FIRST - Thank you to John OConnor for loaning me his EndFedz Trail Friendly EFT-10/20/40. It works great! My Swan 260 does really well with it. I cant transmit (power too high) but the receive is wonderful. I am really looking at the Elecraft KX3 rig. I have watched about 30 youtube videos and have read everything I can trying to learn more about it. I believe John OConnor has one.....maybe he will give me a demo. My holdup of course is the cost. The kit is around $899 and the fully built and tested is $999. I would also need to purchase a mic.....and I would probably go with the ATU (Tuner). Bringing the cost to right around $1250 (approx. with shipping). Now, I know there are HF rigs out there that might be cheaper...but this little rig will go camping with me as well.....and I can boost it up to 100w with an amp when I save up the $$. There is also a radio that that will be coming out from the same folks at EndFedz called the LNR-FX4. It is a lot less expensive but isnt quite out yet.....something to look at though. Just wanted to get thoughts from the group. Really did enjoy receiving the other night with the old Swan 260!
