FIRST IMPRESSION: APPLE OS X YOSEMITE GM Candidate1.0 I have always been a user of Microsoft Windows but started using Apple OS X since Mountain Lion coded as OS X 10.8. Then came Mavericks which was 10.9. It was a substantial improvement over 10.8. Then after exactly over a year Apple plans to introduce Yosemite in October 2014. Since last twelve weeks eight developer previews were released. I went through all of them installing them over each new iteration. Now the Gold Master candidate is released. I am going to briefly put my impressions of it. Apple OS X are built on UNIX under the hood. Since UNIX is command line operating system. So a Graphical User Interface GUI was made in front of it. Apple OS X UI was and is always better than Microsoft offering. Yosemite has gone a step ahead in this direction. The user interface is very intuitive and pleasing to the eye. Comparing to Windows 10 it is miles ahead. The over response is very snappy and smooth. It is a pleasure to use it compared to the crude MS Windows. It is a matter of aesthetics. The Explorer you log into windows is Finder in Apple (see picture). The paradigm is quite different in Apple and one needs to get squinted with it. But it is more natural and intuitive. The internet browser is called Safari. It is miles ahead in arrangement of features compared to IE and I really love to use it (see picture). The small icons and occasional pop-ups we see at the bottom right hand in windows is presented as Notification center in Apple (see picture). It appears on the right edge of the screen when invoked. The control panel in windows is System Preferences in OS X, with the same purpose (see picture). The continuity features with over Apple devices is marvelous. If you have an IPhone, sitting on the computer you can make calls and send/receive SMS via it without ever touching the phone. Your phone may be lying in another room! The search feature is called Spotlight in Apple. You hit a key and it appears on the center on top of all other windows and it is live. That is suggestions appears as you type. The biggest advantage irrespective of your preferences is the absence of viruses and malwares from Apple OS X. Yes, you read correctly. All you require is a firewall that is built in. No malware scans, no downtime, and no virus to clean. Now life isnt simple? Since this is a brief first impressions. Therefore I have not gone in details but hopefully it gives you flavor of what to expect in Yosemite. The other features are not important from user point of view so not mentioned at all. This operating system will be available from October 20th of this year. I am eagerly waiting to zap Mavericks and replace it with Yosemite for production use. The last but not the least I wrote this using Safari on Yosemite. :D I hope you like my impressions and I say the OS is awesome.
