FIRST THOUGHTS CONCERNING MONDAY -- Looks to me like precipitation will arrive in the form of wet snow, sleet and freezing rain between 3 and 5 a.m. The wintry mix of precipitation will transition to plain rain south of I-287 between 7 and 9 a.m. North of I-287, the changeover will occur between 9 a.m. and Noon. North of I-84, the changeover will not come until early afternoon. Slushy wet snow could accumulate up to an inch in most places, but the greatest threat will be from sleet and freezing rain, where a glaze (ice accumulation) of 0.01 to 0.15-inch is possible. Certainly, that will make for slick and slippery (if not treacherous) conditions. People have messaged me asking if schools will be open tomorrow. I do not make those decisions . . . the superintendents of each school district will make that call, probably at around 5 a.m. and based primarily on what is occurring/forecast at that particular hour. My guess is, that south of I-287, there will be delayed openings, while north of I-287 there will be delayed openings and closures; the farther N&W one goes, the better the chance of a closure versus a delay. Again, these decisions will be made by your local district before daybreak on Monday. Take it easy . . . and stay safe.
