FITHWORD MINISTRIES INT. Jeremiah 23:29 (AMP) BUILDING PEOPLE, NATIONS AND THE WORLD. These devotionals were written by: Rev. Dr. Paul Daniels. G O and Head pastor. C E O & Founder of Charity Humanity Help. 14-04-2012 There Is a Blessing In The Storm Romans 5:3-5: (NLT) We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they are good for us--they help us learn to endure. Endurance then develops strength of character in us, and character strengthens our confident expectation of salvation. Life is filled with storms of one kind or another. In the midst of those storms, we tend to respond as if God has somehow been caught off. The storm makes no sense. We cant explain why terminal illness strikes godly people. We dont understand how our strongest friends can become our fiercest critics. The anguish of a broken marriage or the overwhelming heartbreak of a prodigal child drives us to doubt Gods purpose, plan and provision. The fear of financial ruin paralyzes us. God understands. But we should understand that the bible has not promised us trouble free life. In other words if you become Christian nothing in the word promises us not to be sick, we can be sick but our sickness is not like others, we can be poor but our poverty is not like others, troubles, situations, circumstances, may came onto us but it is not like others. Instead the Bible is filled with men and women who were storm survivors’ people of God who endured great pain and weathered intense life storms because they chose to follow Jesus. Beloved don’t faint in the storm. The Apostle Paul, known for persecuting and murdering Christians, was forever changed when he met Jesus Christ. While God gave him a life of great power and eternal impact, it was also a life filled with great storms. Paul learned to patiently endure the troubles, hardships and calamities that came his way. 2 Corinthians 6:4 AMP: But we commend ourselves in every way as [true] servants of God: through great endurance, in tribulation and suffering, in hardships and privations, in sore straits and calamities, Psalm 40:2: He brought me up also out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. Because of this psalm Christians have to anchor our soul, spirit and body to our Lord and savior Jesus Christ, for He is our one and only hope to go through what you are going through right now. But let me remind you that there is a blessing in the storm; you need this storm to become what God want you to become. This storm came to teach, strengthen, build and uplift your rightful place. In other words before this storm ends, you will see yourself been catapulted to a higher level, the bible says you will grow from glory to glory, from strength to strength, but you need this storm to undertake the divine transformation The purpose of every storm is to purify and cultivate endurance. Like Paul, we may sometimes feel as if we are being torn to pieces under the pressure of circumstances. But his challenge to the Romans compels us to re-examine our perspective and response to each storm we face. Romans 5:3-5: 3Moreover [let us also be full of joy now!] Let us exult and triumph in our troubles and rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that pressure and affliction and hardship produce patient and unswerving endurance 4And endurance (fortitude) develops maturity of character (approved faith and tried integrity). And character [of this sort] produces [the habit of] joyful and confident hope of eternal salvation. 5Such hope never disappoints or deludes or shames us, for Gods love has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit Who has been given to us. . Endurance is never passive. It is the picture of a soldier staying in the heat of the battle under terrible opposition but still pressing forward to gain the victory. There are few things that we can count on in this unpredictable life - but we can count on storms to come. We can also count on Gods continual and unfailing strength for those storms. When the hard times come and when bad things happen, we do not have to wonder where God is. Instead we can hold on to the promise that is found in, Jeremiah 16:19 AMP Then said Jeremiah] O Lord, my Strength and my Stronghold, and my Refuge in the day of affliction, to You shall the nations come from the ends of the earth and shall say, Surely our fathers have inherited nothing but lies, emptiness, and futility, worthless things in which there is no profit! I f you learn to anchor your whole bean to the Lord you will not panic nor faint in the storm, you will know ahead of time that He is your strength, your stronghold, and your refuge. So you will rather chill in the storm, knowing that there is a blessing in it. This, Christian, is what you must do. Sometimes, like Paul, you can see neither sun nor stars, and no small tempest lies on you. Reason cannot help you. Past experiences give you no light. Only a single course is left. You must stay upon the Lord; and come what May the storm is no matter what, you must lash yourself to the helm and hold fast your confidence in Gods faithfulness and his everlasting and unfailing love in Christ Jesus. No matter what storm rages in your life today, no matter how fierce the winds or how high the waves may be, where you are does not surprise God. Heaven is not in a panic. Keep calm and your focus on Him and your glance on the raging waters. Lash yourself to Him and He will supply everything you need to stand firm in the storm. Prayer point: Father, I am so tired of trying to weather the storms of life on my own. I need your power and strength to face each one. Please teach me to turn to you first. Help me learn to patiently endure the hard times and honor you in the midst of them as I walk by faith. In Jesus mighty name I pray, Amen. Question: 1. Look back at the storms you have come through. Have you learned more about endurance? Are you stronger now than you were then? 2. Look back at the storm; have you seen the importance of anchoring your entire bean to the Lord? Memorize. Romans 5:3-5: Examine the storms you are facing today. Choose to rejoice in the midst of each one, knowing it is an opportunity to trust God.
