Updated: Saturday, 14 June, 2014 at 04:04 UTC Description According to WHO the two victims are sisters, they live in Kerman Province and they are aged 50 and 52. One of the patients is in stable condition but her sister, the agency says, is in critical condition. 14 days before becoming ill, the two sisters had not come into contact or had consumed raw camel products. Both of them had not travelled although reports indicate that one of the patients had come into close contact with a lady who had been in Saudi Arabia. The WHO’s statement said all those who had made contact with the patients including other patients, their family members and health care workers are currently being investigated by Iranian Center for Disease Control and provincial health authorities. The hospital where the two patients are has been put under some control measures. WHO says it has been informed of 683 confirmed cases of MERS-CoV globally and 204 deaths since September 2012. Considering the information available, WHO has advised states to enhance surveillance for Severe Acute Respiratory Infections (SARI) and to critically look for unusual pattern. The agency has also urged member-states to test people travelling from Middle East and who show sighs of SARs for MERS-CoV. Coronaviruses are a group of viruses whose presence in humans can lead to a wide range of ailments ranging from common cold to severe acute respiratory syndrome. (SARs), in 2003 the sickness became an epidemic. The source of the viruses is still not well known. MERS-CoV, previously known as Novel Coronavirus (NCoV) strain is deadly and the name reflect the place where most of the cases have been reported.
