FLASHBACK: Francis Akenami wrote: TO ALL LEGISLATORS REPRESENTING DELTA STATE Francis Akenami In advanced democracies, it is to the advantage of legislators to provide their telephone numbers and e-mail addresses to their constituents. Such legislators shall have passed the first and most important test, which is accessibility. That in turn is of great benefit to the communities they represent. The first port of call when any community has challenges which are solvable by the Government is their assemblymen or congressmen. How else can it be done besides placing phone calls or sending e-mails. That creates a semblance of a well-represented people. Not an animal farm. It’s unfortunate that our legislators have largely refused to be accessible for reasons best known to them. I hereby call on all Legislators representing Delta State to disclose publicly their constituency office phone numbers and e-mail addresses. That is the minimum requirement for us to accept that they are representing the people. Senators, Members of the House of Representatives and Members of the Delta State House of Assembly should please comply if your purpose is to serve your constituents and not yourselves. In the absence of the above, please note that we shall be taking our cases to the social media (mostly facebook), as that is the only way we expect you can be reached.
