FLOOD ADVISORY FOR: Johnson Washakie ...Small stream flood advisory remains in effect for southwestern johnson and southeastern washakie counties until 730 pm mdt... At 306 pm mdt...National weather service doppler radar indicated an area of very heavy rainfall across the advisory area. 2.5 to 3 inches of rain has fallen at the southern end of the bighorn mountains...Draining into the middle fork of the powder river...And other small creeks draining toward big trails. Heavy rain continues to fall across the advisory area. Runoff from this excessive rainfall will cause minor flooding to occur. Is expected to occur over mainly rural areas of southeastern washakie and southwestern johnson counties...Including the town of barnum and big trails. Rainshowers are beginning to weaken...With average rainfall rates near .50 of an inch per hour. Report flooding to the national weather service office in riverton at 1-800-211-1448. Excessive runoff from this storm will cause flooding of small creeks and streams...Country roads...Normally dry washes... As well as farmland along the banks of creeks and streams. Do not underestimate the power of flood waters. Only a few inches of rapidly flowing water can quickly carry away your vehicle. Report flooding to the nearest law enforcement agency so that they may take appropriate action to close flooded roadways. They will relay your report to the national weather service in riverton.
