FLOOD ADVISORY FOR: McCreary Whitley The national weather service in jackson ky has issued an * Urban and small stream flood advisory for... Mccreary county in south central kentucky... West central whitley county in south central kentucky... * Until 330 am edt * At 1143 pm edt...National weather service doppler radar indicated thunderstorms with heavy rainfall rates moving across the advisory area. Doppler radar estimated that one half to three quarters of an inch per hour was falling in locations that had already picked up nearly two inches of rain. The rain rates should taper off between midnight and 1 am edt. * Runoff from this excessive rainfall may cause minor flooding to occur...Especially along small streams and near low water crossings. Some locations that will experience minor flooding include...Whitley city...Beulah heights...Blue heron...Bounty... Duckrun...Hollyhill...Honeybee...Krupp...Marshes siding...Pine knot...Stearns...Strunk and wiborg. Most deaths in flash flooding occur in automobiles. Do not attempt to cross bridges...Dips...Or low water crossings if water covers the roadway. Never try to cross a flowing stream...Even a small one...On foot or in a vehicle.
