***FLOOD WARNING FOR COASTAL RIVERS AND ADJACENT INLAND STREAMS BETWEEN PORT DOUGLAS AND TOWNSVILLE** Issued at 9:53 am EST on Wednesday 29 January 2014 by the Bureau of Meteorology, Brisbane. Issue Number: 2 Heavy rainfall is expected to develop along coastal areas from Port Douglas to Townsville later this week, associated with a monsoon low. Widespread daily rainfall totals of 100-200mm are expected on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and possibly Saturday. Local falls of up to 400mm are possible on Thursday and Friday. River level rises above minor flood level are likely across the warning area later this week. Catchments at risk include the Barron, Mulgrave, Tully, Murray, Herbert, Ross, Bohle, and Burdekin Rivers. The situation will be closely monitored and individual catchment warnings will be issued if required. A Tropical Cyclone Warning is current between Port Douglas and Mackay. Remember: If its flooded, forget it.
