FLORIDA VOTERS - BEWARE OF NOVEMBER 4TH VOTE NO ON AMENDMENT #1 Water and Land Conservation — Dedicates funds to acquire and restore Florida conservation and recreation lands. WHY? Because the way it is written this legislation sets up a number of politically connected crony’s and corporate entities to take advantage of (abuse) public property and especially public resources (clean water) for their own financial benefit without real regard for the public welfare. The numerous legal loopholes are rife with potential abuse and corruption while the taxpayer foots the bill. VOTE YES ON AMENDMENT #2 Allows the medical use of marijuana for individuals with debilitating diseases as determined by a licensed Florida physician. Allows caregivers to assist patients medical use of marijuana. The Department of Health shall register and regulate centers that produce and distribute marijuana for medical purposes and shall issue identification cards to patients and caregivers. Applies only to Florida law. Does not authorize violations of federal law or any non-medical use, possession or production of marijuana. WHY? Because marijuana is beneficial for the health of so many physically impaired citizens. Contrary to the claims of the so-called establishment, marijuana has been scientifically proven to be much safer and more effective than pharmaceuticals for numerous maladies and the reason that they are so grievously opposed to its legalization is strictly financial. VOTE NO ON AMENDMENT #3 Proposing an amendment to the State Constitution authorizing the Governor to prospectively fill a vacancy in a judicial office to which election for retention applies that results from a justices or judges reaching the mandatory retirement age, failure to qualify for a retention election, or failure to be retained through election. Under current law, the Governor may not act to fill such vacancies until after the current justice or judge completes his or her term. WHY? Because this amendment would politicize the appointment by the governor of the judicial branch of State government. This would take away the right of the public to elect certain judges and justices to the bench. Currently judicial candidates are supposed to be non-partisan and not subject to political influence or control. Gubernatorial appointments would change that.
