FLU RELATED DEATHS NOW AT TWELVE The death count associated with influenza has risen to 12 in Saskatchewan. Health officials released the latest numbers which included the five latest fatalities and counts the number of laboratory-confirmed cases to just under 800. Dr. Denise Werker, Saskatchewans Deputy Chief Medical Health Officer says the timing of the onset of the virus is contributing to the high mortality rate. Werker says the number of confirmed cases in the laboratory is slowing down which means the worst could be behind us. Werker adds there are 49 cases of influenza admissions in the ICU, some of which are very serious and could lead to further deaths.
