FLUSHING: Big word in racing and many different opinions. We clean several hundred carburetors each year and we have seen carburetors 3 weeks old that are totally corroded up with running issues to carbs 3 or more years old that look like new on the inside. The difference between the 2 are flushing(cleaning) procedures. Just like converting carbs there are more than one way to "skin a cat" So are there different ways to flush(clean) your carbs. We are only talking this time about your carbs, not your fuel system. RULE #1 BE CAREFUL FUEL BURNS! 1 Do at the Track after the races while the motor is still warm. This helps prevent fouling your spark plugs. 2 Remove your fuel line from the carbs. 3 Drain all the float bowls. We recommend drilling the head of the drain screw and inserting a roll pin to make a tee handle. This makes it easier to drain the bowls 4 start the motor and rev it up. The motor will rev and die. 5 close off the bowl drains and hook up a squeeze bottle with a gas and oil mixture to the carbs.(Make sure the oil is compatible with gas and methanol) 6 Squeeze bottle and fill the Carbs 7 Start motor and rev it up. Motor will instantly start flooding(rich) Rev up and down a few times then let motor idle. Motor should die. 8 Leave gas mixture in carbs til next race. 9 When restarting, if in cold weather go ahead and satart motor on gas, it will act as a choke. If hot weather, Drain gas. 10 Remember RULE #1, FUEL BURNS
