FM stresses importance of enhancing economic ties with Pakistan 11/11/2013 | 07:43 PM | Kuwait News Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah ISLAMABAD, Nov 11 (KUNA) -- Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah stressed on Monday the importance of enhancing economic ties between Pakistan and Kuwait. Sheikh Sabah Khaled made his remarks during a meeting with the Special Assistant to Prime Minister of Pakistan on Foreign Affairs, Syed Tariq Fatemi in the capital city, Islamabad. The meeting came along the visit by His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah at the invitation of his Pakistan counterpart Nawaz Sharif. In a joint press conference in the Foreign Office of Pakistan, official talks between the two leaders concluded this afternoon. Sheikh Sabah Khaled expressed his pleasure at the visit to Pakistan in order to strengthen mutual relations between the two countries. The minister expressed admiration at achievements made over 50 years of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Kuwait. Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled added that national and international issues of mutual interests were also discussed during the meeting between the two countries premiers. He added that both the sides have signed a number of Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) and agreements, which will help in strengthening mutual cooperation between the two countries in many fields. The Kuwaiti minister said that the two countries have agreed to extend their cooperation on regional and international issues through Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and other national and international organizations. In response to a question, the deputy PM said that Kuwait would relax the visa policies for Pakistani officials as well as skilled workers. He added that at least 150 doctors and over 2000 security personnel would be hired from Pakistan to enhance defense and economic ties. Sheikh Sabah Khaled thanked Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for the invitation. The Ambassador of Pakistan to Kuwait, Syed Abrar Hussain and other senior officials from both sides were also present in the press conference. (end) sbk.mb KUNA 111943 Nov 13NNNN
