FOLKESTONE: There are fears that Folkestones Banksy on an amusement arcade wall at Payers Park is going to be cut out and sold off. The artwork, estimated to be worth around £300,000, has had holes drilled around its edges, and scaffolding is being erected this afternoon in preparation for its believed removal. Kent 999s had speculated earlier that the employment of guards to watch over the Banksy suggested that the buildings owners viewed the piece as their property, and it was only a matter of time before it was removed and sold. It may well be that an excuse for removing the Banksy will be the recent graffiti, including a large phallus, that have been dauded over the protective perspex sheet covering the artwork.
