FOOTBALL IN MALTA : I will not go in the merit of discussing whether we should increase,decrease or remain as is, regarding the amount of foreigners as like everything, it has its pros and cons . But here are some rules that need to be changed/ updated . Some of them can be done easily , some need more discussion.. Please note that this is just my personal opinion . 1 . Home team (according to fixture) should wear Home colours ! (like rest of the world !) In Malta the Home teams wears Away colours ..Any particular reason why ? or we just want to be different ... 2. A match that is abandoned due to force majeur (power failure, bad weather, injured referee etc,) should : A- If the match has started and abandoned during the 1st half , the match would restart from the 1st minute from a 0-0 result . B- if the match was abandoned during the 2nd half , than the match would be continued from the minute it was abandoned and with the result at the time that it was abandoned ( like most of the rest of the world ) Real Madrid vs Real Sociedad (2005) the match was abandoned in the 88th Minute (+ 4min injury time ) . match resumed on a later date from the 88th minute . Real Madrid eventually scored the winning goal from a Zidane Penalty .. As it stands , if the match is abandoned in the 85th minute and one team is winning 4-0 , the match will restart from the beginning with a 0-0 result . 3.LOANS OF PLAYERS - In Malta , players that are loaned out , cannot return to their team or move to another club during the january transfer window . There is a rule that states that a player can register with 3 clubs but can only play with 2 in a season , surely not in the case of loaned players . If a loaned player , does not get paid , falls out with the club , or for any other reason , he is doomed for the rest of the season....highly unfair !! 4 . AMATEUR STATUS - player that have AMATEUR STATUS ( NO CONTRACT AS HE DOES NOT GET PAID ) should be able to move to another club without any problems at the end of the season . At the moment , for an amateur to be released automatically by the club , he has to spend 30 MONTHS without playing football !! and that includes futsal , Swan league , or any association affiliated with the MFA ! obviously if he gets offered a Professional contract till the age of 23 than then the compensation rule will be enforced ... A REAL EXAMPLE OF MODERN SLAVERY !..... 5 . SALARY CAPS - Salary caps should be abolished !!! , I mean , who are we protecting by not declaring the full amount ? as it stands the maximum wage allowed by the MFA is Euro 1200 for a full timer and Euro 350 for part timers ....WHO ARE WE KIDDING ?? ... to make things worse , the rule states that any team caught paying more than those amounts is liable to be punished including deduction of points .... dont know if to laugh or cry. ... 6. PARAMETERS --- ABOLISH ! they are illegal ! , if you want to retain a player , then offer him a contract ...if not ,....LET GO !!.... Your opinion ??
