FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Annual City Lights Parade and Festival Cancelled November 24, 2014 - Wichita Falls, Texas – Due to the inclement weather on November 22, the annual City Lights Parade and Festival has been cancelled and will not be rescheduled. Scheduling conflicts with other major parades and events throughout the surrounding area makes rescheduling City Lights next to impossible. Instead, Downtown Wichita Falls Development hopes that you will support the many other community holiday events. In addition, the Clay County Christmas Parade has invited parade participants the opportunity to showcase their floats in their parade. “We know how hard everybody worked on their floats, and how much the community looks forward to this event every year. While we are all obviously disappointed at having to cancel the City Lights parade that has been going on for 17 years, we can think of no better reason to cancel than receiving abundant rainfall,” said Cynthia Laney, Downtown Wichita Falls Development Executive Director. Downtown Wichita Falls Development will be hosting a Christmas movie night on December 5 at 7:00PM in the Farmers’ Market. This event will be free and open to the public. If it rains, good news – the Farmers’ Market is covered! Parade entries and vendors have the opportunity to receive a refund, or carry over their entry for next year.
