FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: April 1st, 2014 Matt Wiggins Elected to the Iowa Motion Picture Association Board of Directors The Iowa Motion Picture Association has elected Iowa based entertainer and former naval officer, Matt Wiggins to its Board of Directors effective immediately, the IMPA confirmed yesterday. I am extremely honored and humbled to join the Iowa Motion Picture Association Board! Mr. Wiggins said. “Over the last 23 years, the IMPA has become a vital element in the success and growth of a holistic approach to filmmaking Iowa. I am excited to join them in continuing to grow that vision. Mr. Wiggins was nominated and elected for the position during the IMPAs annual meeting held in Burlington, Iowa on March 29th. The meeting was held at the Capitol Theatre in conjunction with events surrounding the 23rd Annual IMPA Awards. He will serve a 3 year term on multiple IMPA committees. The term will expire in 2017, when he will then be up for reelection. In early March Mr. Wiggins was selected to be a member of the awards committee and host for the 23rd Annual Iowa Motion Picture Awards. He also served as the media spokesperson for the IMPA, making multiple television and radio appearances to discuss the awards show and the IMPAs role in the future of filmmaking in Iowa. He took the stage as the Master of Ceremonies on March 29th at the Capitol Theatre in Burlington, IA. IMPA Board Member and member of the IMPA Nomination Committee, Shirley Long said, Mr. Wiggins, managed to combine pizzazz, spirit, creativity & fun - with a seasoned calm under pressure, meticulous attention to necessary detail, ability to improvise - and just plain shoulder-to-the wheel hard work. He was continually inspiring to everyone throughout the entire process. Ms. Long added, This (event) will go down in history, and up in the record books, as one of the most memorable, inspiring, content-packed, and amazing celebrations in the history of the Iowa Motion Picture Association. Joining Mr. Wiggins on the list of new members to the IMPA Board of Directors in 2014 are, Mr. Mark Heggen, currently a producer with Mediacom, and filmmaker Mike Kieler, of SouthSiderStudios. Including Mr. Wiggins, Mr Heggen, and Mr. Kieler, the IMPA board consists of 14 members with a 15 member limit. The 23 year old organization is currently considering a number of qualified candidates to fill the final position in the coming year.
