After a series of interviews with Claire Henning, an elderly woman relating stories about her childhood experiences with a donkey, he eventually realizes his goal through what he believes to be a preordained miracle in a young girl’s beliefs. When young Claire wins a donkey at the county fair in rural Michigan in 1920, things begin to change for her and her family. The sudden end to a farm drought, silos mysteriously filled to overflowing, the miraculous healings of local invalids and the diminishing nightmares experienced by her father, a World War I veteran causes Claire to believe that her pet donkey is the same animal once ridden by Jesus Christ. According to Paul, the young Claire’s father, John Sloan, was inspired by his grandfather, John Stuligross who served in the United States Army’s 85th Division, 339th Infantry Regiment and was sent to Russia in 1918 during World War I to fight the Bolsheviks. The military veterans of this expeditionary force became officially known as Polar Bears.” The book precedes the possible release of an independent film of the same name, The Donkey, also written by Paul Stuligross. The story was optioned/to Buoy 22 Films of Ferndale, Michigan, a company producing high-quality and modest budget films in the Judeo-Christian genre for the strong Faith and Family movie market. The Judeo-Christian premise of the company reflects the moral values and the committed integrity of its management—that of conceiving, creating and distributing films of high ethical quality with reasonably small budgets to a strong proven market, making it a high demand and low risk venture. Buoy 22 Films has engaged Motive Entertainment, a marketing and content creation company focused on serving niche audiences, particularly the enormous Faith and Family market. Motive designed and executed the grass roots marketing campaigns for Mel Gibson’s The Passion of the Christ; the Tom Hanks/Robert Zemeckis film, The Polar Express; the record breaking Walden Media/Disney epic, The Chronicles of Narnia, and the unexpected hits Rocky Balboa, Expelled and The Secret Life of Bees. Paul Lauer, President of Motive Entertainment gave the screen play rave reviews, stating “The Donkey is well written with good dialogue and structure. It’s a heartwarming feature film that will appeal to both the mainstream and faith based audiences.” Author of The Donkey, Paul Stuligross, spent twenty-four years as a police officer, several as a detective. During his career, he received the Officer of the Year award for his involvement in developing and implementing a comprehensive chaplain’s program for his police department. His education includes behavioral and psychological profiling as well as hours of training in creative and screen play writing. In 2012, he received a Master of Arts in Theological/Pastoral Studies from Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit, Michigan. Paul also has a published novel titled Birth of an Angel. The Donkey is published by Patriot Media, Inc. of Niceville, Florida and is being planned for release in mid August. It can now be preordered online from patriotmediainc at a discounted rate until September 30, 2013 or on amazon for $17.95, plus shipping. The novel will also be available soon in Kindle eBooks. # # #
