The City’s Streets Division is joining the City Wide Cleanup effort by employing street sweepers to follow the sanitation vehicles after crews have made their pass through the neighborhoods. In an effort to keep Galveston free of litter, the Public Works Department would like to remind Galvestonians of 4 simple steps to “Clean Sweep Galveston!” 1. Bag your trash - to avoid loose litter on the streets, the City encourages residents to bag all trash before placing it in trash cart. This prevents loose trash on the streets during pickup. 2. Correct cart placement - ensure that your trash carts are clear of vehicles and easily accessible for Public Works to empty. 3. Keep alleys clear – on trash pickup days, please remove all vehicles from alleys or ensure that they don’t impede the progress of Public Works crews. 4. Remove your carts – by 10 PM on trash days, per City Ordinance. Let’s work together to “Clean Sweep Galveston!” For additional questions or information, please contact the City of Galveston’s Public Works Department at (409) 797-3630 or [email protected].
