Guest speaker: Principal Gordo Elementary, Mr. Kenneth Holder (former, Principal of Gordo High School) The topics this month are: • Dealing with Post-Custody Child Rearing Issues during the school year and limiting negative impact on the child and school administration. How to deal with these challenges is very important to both you and your children’s lives. • Kenneth Paschal, ALFRA Director of Governmental Affairs will discuss Family Law Reform to reduce placing children at risk by safeguarding the parent-child relationship. The need for children to have both parents is most evident in academics and extra-curricular activities. Since enacted in 1852, Alabama custody law primarily awards physical custody of children to only one fit parent in contested custody cases. Alabama is currently 43rd in U.S. for high school graduation, with 71% of dropouts consisting of children with restrictive contact with one of their biological parents.
