FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Date: Thursday, November 27, 2014 Contact: Celina Espinoza; Public Information Officer; [email protected] Office: (505) 955-5075 Cell: (505) 670-7202 Turkey Teams Help Feed Less Fortunate SANTA FE, N.M. – Santa Fe Police teamed up with two community partners to help feed the less fortunate this Thanksgiving. Albertsons locations in Santa Fe donated 60 Thanksgiving meals complete with turkeys, mashed potatoes, vegetables, gravy, rolls and a pumpkin pie for those in need. The Santa Fe police department happily delivered the meals to families who would have done without during the holiday. The department also teamed up with St. John’s Methodist Church and their ‘Bag in Hand Pantry’ which handed out 377 Thanksgiving meals complete with all the fixings. Chief Eric Garcia greeted each family as they came to the church to pick up their food. “It is a blessing to be able to shake someone’s hand, offer them a bit of food and wish them a happy Thanksgiving,” Santa Fe Police Chief Eric Garcia said. “This is just one of many ways we enjoy serving our community.” While delivering meals officers found one elderly resident who was without heat because she could not pay her bill. Knowing she was in need, Officer Christopher Reynosa returned to her home with a load of firewood, until a better solution can be arranged. We hope everyone has a safe and happy Thanksgiving!
