FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: December 23, 2014 LINCOLN COUNTY MAN CHARGED WITH FELONY DOMESTIC ASSAULT In the morning hours of December 23, 2014, Lincoln County deputies responded to the 300 block of Harris St., Troy (Lincoln County), for a domestic assault in progress. Upon arrival, deputies observed a 23-year old female victim heavily bruised with elevated facial contusions. According to the victim, she approached 26-year old William McMahan this morning about other women in his life. During the conversation, McMahan started yelling at the victim and began choking her. Fearing for her life, the victim was able to get free and attempted to leave the residence when McMahan trapped her in the home preventing escape. The victim made her way to the kitchen and tried to escape through a window when McMahan grabbed her and began choking her over again. McMahan eventually stopped to retrieve his crossbow, loaded it and told the victim he was going to shoot her with it. McMahan discharged the crossbow and the arrow lodged into the wall, next to the victim. The victim was able to escape through a living room window when deputies arrived. The victim’s sister was also assaulted during the altercation along with a 2-year old boy. McMahan is currently housed in the Lincoln County jail and charged with Felony Domestic Assault in the First Degree, Domestic Assault in the Second Degree, Felony Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Felonious Restraint and Misdemeanor Assault. McMahan’s bond is set at $75,000 cash only with no victim contact. Further conditions of bond may apply. ###
