FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE July 4, 2014 Bordallo Endorses Gutierrez-Gumataotao Ticket and all 15 Democratic Senators for the Guam Legislature At last nights meeting of the Democratic Partys Central Executive Committee (CEC), Congresswoman Madeleine Bordallo publicly endorsed Governor Carl T.C. Gutierrez and Attorney Gary Gumataotao for Governor and Lt. Governor. Democratic State Chair Sen. Rory J. Respicio explained that this was the first time this year, that Congresswoman Bordallo had the opportunity to address the CEC given her duties in Washington DC. After referring to Governor Gutierrez as partner Bordallo went on to say: I am a Democrat.. Let me make it very clear tonight that I am supporting the candidacy of Governor Gutierrez and Mr. Gumataotao. Bordallo also endorsed all 15 Democratic candidates for Senator. Respicio stated, Congresswoman Bordallo once again showed us why she is regarded as a great Democrat and a great leader of the Democratic Party of Guam. Last nights CEC meeting was held in the Sinajana Community Center. In attendance in addition to Bordallo, were Governor Carl Gutierrez, Attorney Gary Gumataotao, US Congressional candidate Matt Artero, as well as several candidates for the Legislature. Sinajana Mayor Robert Hoffman and Vice Mayor Rudy Iriarte were also in attendance and conveyed their support for the Gutierrez-Gumataotao ticket. Senator Tina Muna Barnes also spoke to the gathering extending her familys invitation to the Democratic Partys first regional meeting for Gutierrez-Gumataotao, and all Democratic candidates. The first regional meeting was initially scheduled for Friday (July 4, 2014) night in the Muna family compound in Mangilao but was postponed due to the approaching tropical storm. According to Respicio, the CEC also acted last night to approve plans for an August 28 Unity Rally and for the Jefferson-Jackson Celebration to be held later in September of this year. The CEC also unanimously approved a motion to incorporate the CEC leadership into the Gutierrez-Gumataotao Village Leader Organization. Respicio further stated Its clear from last nights gathering that the Democratic Party is not only united, but with the support of disaffected Republicans and Independent voters, our partys candidates are in a strong position for victory in November. -30-
