FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Local nonprofit gearing up for benefit gala to help children with disabilities and their families Helena, Alabama (October 27, 2014) – A local nonprofit is getting ready for an event that will positively impact the lives of children with disabilities and their families. For the third consecutive year, Helena-based Aaron’s Staff Respite Care Ministries will host a benefit gala to help continue supporting families in Shelby and Jefferson counties who have children with special needs by providing free respite care services. The annual gala is Aaron’s Staff’s major fund raising event for the year. This year event speakers include Dustin Chandler, the father of Carly Chandler of Carly’s Law, a bill that recently passed both houses of the Alabama legislature unanimously and was signed into law by Governor Bentley on April 1, 2014. The law allows for the University of Alabama at Birmingham to examine the effectiveness of marijuana-derived oil to treat seizure disorders such as epilepsy. Robert Montgomery of the motivational organization Waging War on Normal will also speak at the event, along with Tim Trimble, the founder of Aaron’s Staff. In addition to speakers the gala will include a silent auction and dinner. Admission is free, however guests are asked to RSVP by contacting the organization. The Aaron’s Staff 3rd Annual Gala will be held on November 1, 2014 at the Family Life Center of First Baptist Church of Alabaster from 6 to 9 pm.
