Beginning April 6, 2014. Excited audiences will hear the best puns from big name comedians as well as local Westchester acts! The headliners and Westchester’s talented, will come together to give everyone a good hardy laugh. The festival will consist of comedy workshops, competition and stand-up! The comedy workshops will help professional and aspiring funnymen improve their stage presence when it comes to using tags, pulling the audience into your “comedy movie”, defining a joke premise, developing a strong comedic voice, and so much more! The attendees will learn from the best of the best, a rare chance that they’ll have to pick the brains of headliners in the comedic field. Celebrity Casting Director Winsome Sinclair who casted for movies like “Precious, Too Fast Too Furious, Malcolm X and Inside Man”, will host an exclusive workshop “One on One with Winsome”. Celebrity comedians such as Phyllis Yvonne Stickney, Talent Da Comedian and female impressionist “Sylvia Traymore Morrison” will make guest appearances by showing us their best wise cracks and tickling our funny bones. Phyllis Yvonne Stickney is an all-round comedic, entertainer and actress in movies such as “How Stella Got Her Groove Back, The Inkwell and Jungle Fever”. Stickney has taken hold of every industry using her wits. Stickney not only does stand-up, but is also a motivational speaker including the Essence Music Festival and the keynote speaker for the African American Woman On Tour show for 13 years.. Comedian and actor Talent Da Comedian is the comedians’ favorite comedian on stage. With his notorious tagline “It’s Just Comedy”, he keeps his crowds alive and tuned into his sidesplitting jokes. Talent has featured at many stand-up shows, hosted his own Boston Comedy Club, and has repeatedly appeared on Russell Simmons’ Def Comedy Jam and Caroline’s. He brings the funny every time he steps on stage and leaves you wanting more. Sylvia Traymore Morrison, is the first African American Female Impressionist in the country. She was one of the first solo artists to tour and open for Whitney Houston in arenas that housed well over 30,000 people. Since that time Sylvia has opened for some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry, including Gladys Knight, Chaka Khan, The Temptations, and Cher. Westchester Comedy Festival is calling all comedians to flex their stage skills in the Comedy Competition for “Westchester’s Funniest Comic”. Competitors will bring their A-game in front of agents, promoters, comedy club owners, and comedy lovers. These Westchester jesters will have to wow three judges as well as the as audience. The funniest comic will win a grand prize of cash and gifts of $1,000. In addition, a crowd favorite will receive a $100. To enter this hilarious competition, submit a 5-minute clip of you and your jokes along with a picture and bio. There is $25.00 submission fee due by Feb. 28th and extended submission deadline is March 15th for $35. So You Think You’re Funny? If so, this is the event for you!
