FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: October 23, 2014 SHERIFF’S OFFICE RECEIVES HOMELAND SECURITY GRANT The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office recently received notification they were awarded a Missouri Homeland Security interoperability grant that will benefit the 24-hour law enforcement agencies in the county. The $40K grant will go toward portable radios incorporating the statewide public safety interoperable communications system, known as the Missouri Statewide Interoperability Network (MOSWIN). The Statewide Interoperability Network provides access for local agencies to communicate with state, regional and federal agencies in the event of an emergency, such as flooding, tornadoes and other all hazard events. The advanced technology radios will benefit the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Troy Police Department, Winfield Police Department, Lincoln County Emergency Management and Elsberry Emergency Management agencies. “Ensuring county jurisdictions can communicate with each other leads to better emergency and disaster response and ultimately makes for a safer Lincoln County,” said Sheriff John Cottle. “As a community we are all in this together and anytime we can write a grant to better our county we will.” Radios come equipped with extended batteries and holsters. Law enforcement agencies can expect delivery of their radios in early November. ###
