FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Partnering for Healthy Creeks, Lakes, and Waterways What effect does water run-off in Lodi and the Lake Wisconsin area have on local creeks and waterways? What concepts from Aldo Leopold are today impacting local water health in our community? Steve Laubach, of the UW Arboretum Earth Partnership, will share information about these topics on Thursday, March 13, 2014. The event is a collaboration of Lodi Reads Leopold and The Lake Wisconsin Alliance. It will begin at 6:30pm at the Lodi Library, 130 Lodi Street, Lodi. Steve, author of the book “Living a Land Ethic”, will share some of Aldo Leopold’s writings related to water health within the ecosystem. He will also talk about one of the Earth Partnership’s programs, “Follow the Drops”, which traces water from parking lots to nearby waterways, as well as how to reduce harmful impact. Steve Laubach teaches courses in education, biology and conservation at Edgewood College, and is a Watershed Education and Outreach Specialist with the UW Arboretum Earth Partnership. Laubach has led waterway tours of the Yahara and Pecatonica watersheds. One of the early and successful projects of the UW Arboretum Earth Partnership was in 1997 as they partnered with the Lodi Schools, creating the prairie parklands behind the Lodi Middle School. Lodi Reads Leopold is a team within the Friends of Scenic Lodi Valley, and plans events in March of each year to heighten awareness of Aldo Leopold and his writings. The Lake Wisconsin Alliance is a newly created group with the vision of a clean Lake Wisconsin for the enjoyment of current and future generations. The event is free and open to the public.
