FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE The More the Merrier at the GMPA and GRCC Christmas Parade Local Groups Invited to Participate in 24th Annual Holiday Parade GALVESTON, TX (November 19, 2014) – Get in the holiday spirit with the 24th annual Christmas Parade! GMPA has partnered with the Galveston Regional Chamber of Commerce and Blue Santa to present “Christmas Around the World.” The parade will feature local first responders from the Galveston Police Department’s SWAT and Dive Team, the Galveston Fire Department, Galveston County Sheriff’s Office and many more. Participation is open to all Galveston County businesses, schools, groups and organizations. Awards will be given for different parade categories. “The partnership between the Galveston Regional Chamber of Commerce and the City continues to strengthen through community events like the parade,” remarked GRCC President Gina Spagnola. “We are honored to help make ‘Christmas Around the World’ a success and to showcase our many business and education leaders.” WHAT: GMPA / GRCC “Christmas Around the World” Christmas Parade WHEN: Saturday, December 13, 2014 Lineup at 10 AM; Parade begins at 11 AM WHERE: Parade routes through downtown Galveston Line up at Shearn Moody Plaza Blue Santa Toy Drive Blue Santa is an annual toy drive for local Galveston children in need. The drive is in need of toys appropriate for children ages six months to 16 years of age such as outdoor games, skateboards, bikes, footballs, basketballs, building games such as Legos, family board games, and action figures. Monetary donations are tax exempt and can be used to purchase gifts. The drive also accepts wrapping paper and tape to assist in preparing the gifts. Toy drop-offs are located at the Chamber office, 2228 Mechanic Street, the Joe Max Taylor Law Enforcement Center, 601 54th Street, and across the island.
