FOR SALE!!!! TOYOTA MR2 ROADSTER 2001 1.8 VVTI MILEAGE - 91.000 MOT - 27th MARCH 2015 TAX - 31st JULY 2014 Due to personal circumstances I have decided to put my pride and joy up for sale. I have owned this car for just over a year and have loved every minute of driving it. I bought the car on 6/5/13 with 85.000 miles on the clock, and being owned by my mother in law since 2007 I knew that the car was looked after and knew that the service history was perfect, as I had done most of it for her. Its just recently passed its MOT with no advisories and on the same day had a oil, filter and air filter change too. I can also say that its never been, at least for the last 7 years, being ragged around, smoked in or having any pets in the car. This car has full service history, being serviced at regular intervals of every 4-5 months. Since its been my own hands, Ive serviced it every 3 months using only fully synthetic quality oil. A lot of money has been spent on it, especially since Ive owned it again, with a £300 dual exit postert exhaust being installed, £500 black hardtop with fitting kit, perfect for the bleaker winter months and various cosmetic items to make sure that the car still stays in touch with the look of its modern day equivalents. I understand that not everything Ive done might not be to everybodys taste, but I have kept all original parts and panels if you do not like the look of what Ive done and will be included in the sale. The car has now done 91,000 miles and during my ownership has had :- 09/06/13 - 85,300 miles – oil, filter, air filter and spark plug change 19/06/13 - 85,509 miles – gear box oil change 23/06/13 - 85,634 miles - Front tyres replaced 03/07/13 - 86,012 miles - dangerous pre cats removed (pre cats were still intact) 08/12/13 - 88,117 miles – oil and filter change 15/03/14 - 88,524 miles – 2x o2 manifold lambda sensors changed (ecu light came on for only 15 miles) 16/03/14 - 88,526 miles – MAF cleaned 11/04/14 - 89,200 miles – dual exit postert exhaust fitted with new rear bumper 21/04/14 - 89,879 miles - gear change bushings replaced for metal ones for smoother gear change 03/05/14 - 90,300 – oil and filter change, k&n air filter installed. As you can see I have tried to keep the car fully serviced with only quality products and premium lubricants used, and have done most of the work myself. The car has been my weekend hobby and my daily drive for 12 months without any faults. Starts first time, every time and has never let me or my mother in law previously down once! This is a very reluctant sale, I would love to keep it, but having two kids and having to do the school run in a two seater is impossible, so I need a bigger car reluctantly. Along the way, I have added a few other tasteful modifications which I will include in the full specification below. Engine 91,000 + miles – Full service history, uses and loses no oil or water and has no issues as far as I am aware. K&N air filter fitted, 2x O2 lambda sensors fitted, dangerous pre cats were removed when I got the car, when I removed them, pre cats were still intact which is a very good thing, as if they were any damage to them, they could have been sucked through the engine and thats when catastrophic damage happens, but thankfully, no worries!!! Suspension and Steering Standard suspension throughout with no knocks or noises. Corkys breast plate installed, replacing standard two supports. Car feels solid and holds the road well. Steering has no issues as I know of. Gear Box and Clutch Clutch has been changed in the cars life but not by me. No issues with gear changes. Gear selector bushes replaced with metal bearings which improve feel of gear change. Wheels and Tyres Standard wheels have been refurbished by myself in metallic Mercedes silver and still look ok but they have suffered from the usual corroding issues unfortunately. They look good, great from far away, but who goes really close to someones alloys?? Tyres are all good and passed the MOT just last month with no issues or advisors. Exhaust Standard exhaust was starting to blow, so was changed to a know rare postert dual exit exhaust. Is not over the top with noise, to the contrary, doesnt sound too different, only noticeable sound difference is going through the gears, especially 3rd. Looks great!!! Brakes Standard discs and pads front and rear with plenty of life left in them. Handbrake is perfect with no binding and holds firm on two clicks. Callipers painted red all around. Interior Overall, the condition of the interior is great Usual wear to drivers’ side seat on bolster which has been repaired by myself using autoglyn scuff master. Seats and door cards were upgraded by myself from red cloth to now red leather. Modifications to interior include: • Dash mount to hold owners choice of phone • £200 JVC headunit, with Bluetooth, aux in, 2x USB, etc • Lockwood chrome door sill savers • Interior light bulbs swapped for LED’s • Chrome dial rings for both speedo and heater controls and chrome slider • Mats returned to originals • Chrome pull tab installed Security and keys • Standard alarm and immobiliser. No problems, all working great • 3 keys present, two full keys one valet key Exterior / Bodywork Modifications to exterior include • Crystal clear side repeaters • Side vents painted to match • LED bulbs in brake lights and night breakers installed in main lights • Debadged rear, now with trd badge on • Front Toyota badge changed to JAP style front badge • Changed pre facelift front bumper to fresher, newer, facelift front bumper • Facelift rear bumper inserts installed • Rear bumper modified to accommodate new dual exit exhaust • Rear badges removed off boot lid • Replaced yellow/faded drivers side front headlight • Rear spoiler added • Rear boot lip added • Devs keyhole covers installed Condition of bodywork The car polishes up very nice on the whole, being a light sports car, all panels are simply bolt off bolt on, so I have replaced a couple of panels which were badly scratched. Does have a few age related marks being 13 years old however, this does not upset the overall appearance of the car and with a good coat of wax is hardly noticeable. The car has never suffered any rust issues. As you can see from the photos, the overall appearance is very good for an 13 year old car with only the odd stone chip here and there. The engine lid with the spoiler was modified by myself, so is a DIY install but still looks good, however if not for your taste, included is a great condition rear engine lid to change it back to stock with only four bolts to change. The car does have a working electrical aerial, works 98% of the time. Soft top is in ok condition, does have a couple of small holes but does not leak at all!!! To replace soft top, Ive seen them sell on eBay for only £100 and is only a two hour job to change and can be tackled by someone with basic DIY skills. Its never bothered me as the soft top is down most of the time in the summer and in the winter, It has a excellent condition black hardtop which looks amazing and is garaged whenever not in use! Included in sale is the hardtop, fitting kit and Taylor made hardtop cover/bag which is brand new (all worth £600). Summary In my opinion, this is a very clean example of a mr2 roadster, yes there are £1000 mr2s out there, but can’t be many with as a comprehensive servicing record, the desired black hardtop, rare dual exit exhaust, less than average miles, 11 months mot etc.... The car is a real eye turner with nice modifications which can be reversed easily if desired, as original parts are included in the sale once a price has been agreed. I would like to sell the car as it stands but I will remove parts and sell separately to re-coupe any losses. I am no boy racer and believe in looking after my cars. I love this car and spend more time cleaning and maintaining it than driving it. I have priced this car at £2200 ono. This is a reflection on its overall condition, level of maintenance, and what additional parts are included at this price. I would love the car to go to someone on the forum and I don’t want to put the car on flea-bay and be messed about with tyre kickers if I can help it. Any questions, please pm or get in touch. Viewings are welcome and test drives are also welcome as long as you can prove you are insured to drive it. Car location is in Fallings Park, Wolverhampton, WV10. Thanks for looking.
