The jamboree called protest by the youths of Eket federal constituency against Exxonmobil is ending in fiasco.Hunger stricken youths were used and dumped by moonlight,self-styled activist and patriots to barricade the premises of Exxonmobil facilities at Ibeno and in Eket.Drumming,singing,dancing and drinking all types of illicit and illegal herbs and roots everyday under the sun in the day name of #26.5b oil spill compensation fund.These youths,thought the few elites that remote controlled and spearhead the protest shall at the end of struggle settle and carry them along.Little did they know and they forgot in a hurry the writings of Niccolo Machiavelli in his book titled The Prince. I am crying,not that I like crying.But each time I passed through Eket-Oron Road,where the Mobil Airstrip is located,hundreds of these Mobil Must Pay(MMP)protesters mostly professional motorcyclists aka Okada riders.I saw passion and hope in their tiny mindset.Yes,hope of going home with heavy pockets filled with NAIRA if not DOLLARS whenever Mobil decides to pay.On this,they were wrong. The eyed-men used,raped,punished and dumped them.The result now is accusation and counter accusation,unnecessary blocking of roads and name calling.Blood they said ll flow.Whose blood?Maybe that of Exxonmobil!Their minds didnt play back to them the antecedents of the protest forerunners.They should have known that the political and social height attained by some of the organizers today in Eket federal Consttuency and in the state came as a reward of betrayal.What is fetching them contracts,houses,appointments and fame is betrayal. The angry youths should vocate Mobil Airstrip main gate and other properties owned by this oil giant.Their war drums had been bought off without their consent.Poor youths,youre not to be blame.Unemployment is in the picture,it slapped and dealt mercilessly without looking back,and at the end decided to give undeserved blow in the land where transformation is noticeable. Wake up!Look for true and geniue protest leader like Jesse Jackson,Martin Luther King,Wole Soyinka and Inibehe Effiong etc . All coffins,red cloths,mask-iso ekpo,and other fetish artefacts should be dismantle at all Mobil facilities before the hunters become the hunted.Go home now!
