FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO MAY NOT HAVE HEARD: Pastor Ed Dufresne among victims in deadly plane crash By Adam Knapp KWCH 12 Eyewitness News 1:18 p.m. CDT, October 18, 2013 (SEDGWICK COUNTY, Kan.)— A small business plane has crashed in southeast Sedgwick County. Edward Dufresne, a 72-year-old traveling pastor with World Harvest Church, was one of the two victims, Sedgwick County Sheriff Jeff Easter said. The crash happened shortly before 10 a.m. Friday. Crews were called to the scene near 95th Street South and Webb Road around 10:15 a.m. Easter said 95th Street will be closed between Webb and Greenwich, and Webb will be closed between 95th and 87th. Police are searching fields for debris, and Easter said a wing was found about a mile away from the crash. Easter said witnesses reported hearing an explosion shortly before the crash. Investigators believe the plane disintegrated in the air before hitting the ground. Dufresne and the pilot, Mitchell Morgan, 49, were on a Cessna Citation C-500. They were both from Maryetta, Calif. Tony Molinara, Federal Aviation Administration, said the plane was a Cessna 500, flying from Wichita to New Braunfels, Tex. Authorities recovered two bodies from the crash. According to Defresnes itinerary, he was scheduled to speak at Triumphant Faith Center, 5103 S. Seneca, Thursday night. His itinerary also reports he was to speak at Word and Spirit Church in Schertz, Tex. Friday night. The FAA and NTSB are investigating the crash.
