FOREVER HOME sought for the beautiful NELSON Nelson came into - TopicsExpress

FOREVER HOME sought for the beautiful NELSON Nelson came into the care of the KWWSPCA several months ago as a horrific cruelty case, one of the most emaciated dogs that we have ever seen (as some of the photos show). The poor boy was literally skin and bones, with sorrowful eyes that simply melted your heart. He had been tied up without access to any food or water for a good while, and would have soon starved to death but for being rescued by some good Samaritans who brought him to our care. Another lurcher who was with him, Bran (who had a horrible neck wound where he had struggled to get free from the rope enslaving him) is now thankfully heading off to a wonderful home, his wounds healed, his weight restored and now neutered and back in good health. We are so grateful to Daphne and her family for offering a second KWWSPCA rescue dog a wonderful home. The good news is that, at the same time as Bran leaves our shelter, Nelson is heading off to a foster home to continue his recuperation. He has put back on nearly all his lost weight and has been getting lots of TLC from all the volunteers at our shelter, but he is still very nervous around any strangers (understandably given his previous abusive treatment) and his first inclination is to keep away from anyone he doesnt know. He is improving and starting to accept affection now from strangers, so the individual care he will now receive in his foster home will hopefully further build his confidence and enable him to trust again. While we are delighted that Nelson is moving into a great foster home, we would love him to find his very own forever family in due course (he will be neutered before being re-homed permanently once restored to full weight/health). If that might be you, please get in touch - you can private message us through our Facebook page, call/text 087 9133923 (reasonable hours only please) or email kwwspcarehoming@gmail. Visiting Nelson will have to be by prior arrangement. We ask for a rehoming fee of €100 to partly off-set his veterinary costs (to include the future cost of his neutering if not already done). A home check will be required as with all our dogs.
