FOREVER YOUNG-PEARL MPOFU The glinting hourglass and the slowly tickling sand All mean nothing to me Empty words...echoing Void Years then decades then centuries Lay unfurled as interwoven fibres Stitched slowly,deliberately,painfully To the chords and humming rhythm Of my heart I watch as you age Hold your perfect,wrinkled hand Blood turning pale As you breathe your last and l, powerless yet Immortal Weep uncontrollably Till the ends of time The monotonous chiming cadence Of life like an unceasing clock Seems to go on forever, and l, Like a jutting rock on a shallow Stream, refuse to flow with the rest of the world Even with Mother Nature And so, with no purpose With no aim do l wander An eternal vagabond Seasons slowly shift The sky turns grey I am forever young Forever Cursed And Waiting.....
