FOREWORD Costume designing is one of the most significant aspects of film production. It’s effect on a film could be subtle but yet profound. As I continue to direct films I cannot but see the impact of good costuming in and on a production. Unfortunately, many producers and directors overlook this department. The essence of this book is to show us how important costume designing is to both film and stage productions. Also the book is especially useful for anyone who wants to go into costume designing. And as a director of more than 15years, I learnt even more about costuming as I read this book. Ifeoluwa combines both the theoretical with the practical aspect of costuming. She shares from her experience on the field as a costume designer in many films. I have always said there is no good or bad costumes. Only appropriate or inappropriate costumes. A costume might be “good” that is, nice. But may not help the director to interpret the script well or depict the character in the way the script says it. Many underestimate the effect of appropriate costuming in helping the actor “carry” a particular role. If your costume is wrong, it can pass a wrong or different information to the audience. Because, people see you before they hear u. in Exodus 2, from verse 16, when the daughters of the median priest saw Moses, they thought they had seen an Egyptian. Apparently by the way he dresses. It is my believe that excellent costume designing will take our productions to the next level. And this book will help a great deal in achieving that. I commend this book to all.
