FORGETTING HIS PAST WORKS? Reference Text: They refused to obey, they forgot all you did, the forgot the miracles you had performed- NEHEMIAH 9:17a (GNB) Reference Hymn Emi ba legberun ahon, Fi yin Olugbala Ogo Olorun Oba mi Isegun ore re Cr. A bi ko seun fun o A o ma se fun mi Eje re se fun mi Eje re se fun mi If I have up to a thousand tongues To praise the Lord our God The glories of the Lord our King His victory and His grace Cr. Did He not satisfy you? Did He did not satisfy me? His blood has made us whole- CCC Hymn 387 stanza 1 The people of Israel in confessing their sins, trespasses and past deeds when the worship was restored after their return from the exile acknowledge their ancestors sins. They openly confessed that their ancestors forgot all that God did for them and refused to obey Him. They forgot how He used His mighty hands to rescue them from the grip of the Egyptians, how the Red Sea parted, crossing of River Jordan, the supply of manna for 40 years, and how God destroyed the cities ahead of them as they advanced among others. It was because they forget these awesome acts that resulted to their 70 years of exile in the land of Babylon. One important lesson from our reference text is that we should not at any point forget where God took us from, where we are at present and where He is still taking us to. As a believer, understand the fact that you must not at any point in time forget the great works of God. PSALMS 103:2 (GNB): Praise the Lord, my soul, and do not forget how kind He is Reflect on His past works and use that as a confidence that He will take care of your future. Remember the days that you had little and God enlarged you greatly. Remembers the days you were trusting God and how He answered you in due time. May you not forget the past works of God in your life in Jesus Name.
