FORMER KUMULS DAUGHTER WANTS TO PLAY FOR PNG Sports TOK PNG Fortnightly Sports Magazine October 2014 Issue 19 Former PNG Kumuls cult hero John Okuls daughter Maggie is raising her hands to play for PNG in 2015 Pacific Games . Maggie Okul raised and grew up in England after her dad John Okul played for Hull Kingston Rovers rugby league club and later settled there after his stint in the English Super League. Maggie of mixed parentage of Sipi village in Banz in the new Jiwaka Province ( Dad) and mum from England has rose up to the occasion even the parents cant believe the ability of there daughter Maggie has. Maggie takes part in the track and field events where she set a new championship record and a new personal best of 52.9m in the hammer throw and making her become one of the best women athletes for Kingston upon Hull Athletic Club. This also enable Maggie to win the hammer throw event for the under 17 womens during the 40th Annual Humberside Track and Field Championship at Costello. Maggies dad who was here in the country last month said he was impressed with his daughters performance and encouraged her to be focused and determined. Meanwhile, Maggie spoke from England of her desire to represent her dads country one day. This will be a great opportunity to come play for her country, said Kenny Pu who is one of Maggies relatives in PNG . Maggie said she will be more than happy if she was given the opportunities to represent the country of her dads birth place . Id jump at the chance of representing PNG anyway . It will be a privilege and an honour to represent PNG . I am dying to represent PNG if given a chance,Maggie said. Family means a lot to me and I will take the chance to represent my country and play for PNG when the timing is right ,she said .
