FORMULA ONE: (sorry for posting results so late but I was up all night watching the race) Nico Rosberg WINS the 2014 F1 German Grand Prix! Bottas and Williams takes 2nd, and in a stunning turn of events Lewis Hamilton is on the podium at 3rd. It was an exciting race right from the start. Felipe Massa has bad luck! He was hit from behind by Kevin Magnussen’s McLaren and flipped upside down, ending his day in a dramatic crash. He was ok but this is several times this year where Massa has been retired on the first turn of the first lap of the race. He needs better luck. In short, the big news was Hamilton. The Brit started in 20th position and gained one position per lap. By the 14th lap, he was in 6th position, an absolutely stunning run. There was a period where he overtook two cars at once, Alonso’s Ferrari and Ricciardo’s Red Bull Infiniti. Hamilton went on to finish on the podium. I will say for the record I am not a fan of Lewis Hamilton; however, it can be reasonably argued that he is currently the greatest driver in all of motorsports. Rosberg won the race from the pole to the delight of his home crowd. (Rosberg was born and resides in Monaco but is German.) Excellent run for Williams yet again. Bottas is having a fantastic season and the small family run team is having great results. Good for Williams! Ferrari. What is wrong at Ferrari? Ferrari fans are speechless. Alonso and Raikkonen do their best but the cars simply are not there. This year’s engineering requirements are ridiculous and Ferrari boss Montezemolo has publicly stated if F1 head Bernie Ecclestone does not fix the issues within F1 that he will step in and fix them himself…and he is taken very seriously. Nothing to note with the rest of the pack. It was a good race, full of danger and excitement as always. Anything can happen in Formula One. We are officially HALFWAY through the season. Next up: Hungary.
