FORUM GUIDELINES NEW MEMBERS PLEASE READ: the mission of this forum is to educate people about native birds of Rhode Island and promote responsible Bird Photography 1. Please label the photo with the name of the bird and location UNLESS --you do not know the name, in which case you should post ID? --it is a vulnerable breeder that might suffer from unwanted attention --it is an owl 2. Please limit your post to no more than 3 pictures of the same bird in a single day unless it is a rare bird or an ID problem 3. Do not post pictures of breeding owls until after June 30th when breeding season has ended 4. Members are encouraged to share EXIF information for the benefit of others 5. Please limit posts to birds in RI or Southern New England, unless they are pictures you have taken on a recent trip. 5. Our focus is on wild birds, not livestock or captive animals (including zoos), landscapes, etc. 6. Our focus is on native species, posting pictures of Mute Swans, Summer Canada Geese, House Sparrows, House Finches, Starlings, Rock Doves or other invasive species is discouraged and pictures may be deleted without notice.. 7. Please do not re-post other peoples photos 8. This forum uses bird names found in The AOU Check-list of North American Birds, 7th Edition. Members are encouraged to consult a field guide to learn the names of common bird species in their area, such as the Peterson, Kaufmann, SIbley or National Geographic guides. Another good resource is the Cornell Lab of Ornithologys About Birds site: allaboutbirds.org/guide/browse/6,33/ 9. The moderators reserve the right to delete any photo that violates the above guidelines, or is uncropped, out-of-focus, under/over-exposed, or redundant.
