FOSTER BROTHERLY LOVE FIRST LESSON: HEBREWS 13:1 Let brotherly love continue. SECOND LESSON: 2ND CORINTHIANS 8:10 And in this I give my advice: for this is expedient for you, who have begun before, not only to do, but also to be forward a year ago. GOLDEN TEXT: 1ST THESSALONIANS 4:9 But concerning brotherly love ye need not that I write to you: for ye yourselves are taught by God to love one another. LOVE IS ETERNAL God is love and man is made in his likeness. Man is therefore naturally endowed with the love of God. Love is as old as the universe. God is teaching us daily what love embodies and how to love. Even little children love one another without being taught. This is because God’s image in man is love. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only-begotten Son, that whoever believeth in him, should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16) Man must therefore borrow a leaf from this magnanimous example of God and love his fellow man. Loving one another is so natural and spontaneous that we cannot be taught how to love. A wife loves her husband and vice versa. The exchange of greetings with neighbors, friends, brothers and sisters, the invitation we extend to people to attend our parties or take breakfast or supper with us, when we ask people to come to live with us in our homes are all expressions of love. Love had existed, presently exist, and will for eternity exist. Love is not planted or made by any person. God is love. When people pass away with their visions and prophecies etc., love, which is God remains supreme and eternal. People regret every murderous act of theirs because their conscience tells them it is wrong. Evil is like a little mustard seed. Every evil act we commit seems to be attracting another evil to us. Money is generally termed the root of all evil and its acquisition makes humans devise various means fair or foul. People kill to get money; break houses and steal to get money; others cheat to get the money. All are sinful acts, which separate us from God. Of what purpose then is the money acquired in the manner described above if it is to make us run away from God and live in sin? Yes, of course we need money to give our children the best education and training, build houses and have other worldly things described as property. Why gain the whole world and lose our souls? We must look for God first because he is love. Love, exist everywhere, and to enable it continue to grow in the hearts of men and women, we preach it. Love is a big word of testimony to God for he still loves us and we must learn to love him in return. We admire the good dress of a person because of love. A person loves himself, his wife, children, friends, workers etc., and hates sins because we are love. God dwells in us and we in him and God is love. Re-examine the First Lesson: FIRST LESSON: HEBREWS 13:1 Let brotherly love continue. LET LOVE CONTINUE Whoever says he has no love deceives himself. Even Lucifer has love. Our tongue is the greatest evil in us. However few words may be, when they are rudely spoken, they will arouse the indignation of people, but love attracts us to people. It is so because love remains within us forever; when all material things shall pass away. Lucifer is able to lure us to commit evil and sin when we are devoid of the love of God. He knows when to lead us astray. It is always in time of great want, when we have no money that is when he shows us illusionary hospitals, medicines etc. Lucifer’s antics lead us to destruction. A person may have many children and he will because he has no money to provide the necessary things for them, be compelled to look for money by all means fair or foul. Women in pecuniary embarrassment roam the streets to get little money. People drink because of the love for it and later on meet with destruction. Those who do not love others are like those who hide their talents in the ground to rust. Re-examine the Second Lesson: SECOND LESSON: 2ND CORINTHIANS 8:10 “And in this I give my advice: for this is expedient for you, who have begun before, not only to do, but also to be forward a year ago.” LOVE IS THE FOUNDATION OF EVERYTHING The world was founded on love; marriage started with love and so also was friendship. There is love between parents and children. Since we started with love, let us nurture it so that it might continue to grow. Let us rescind our decision not to love again and go back and start loving afresh: for if love ceases to exist, life is taken away. “Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt hath lost its savor, with what shall it be salted? It is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot by men.” (Matthew 5:13) He who started with love should continue to the end. Who can boldly say that they have never loved? Even little children when they go out to play return home with their little friends to show to their parents. This is love manifested in children. In the Garden of Eden, angels stayed together because of love. God planted love in us: we must therefore show this love to people on earth. Continue to love. Love is not like prophecy, dream nor vision it is the living God and is within us. Christ said that you will, live in his love as he lives in his father’s. Re-examine the Golden Text: GOLDEN TEXT: 1ST THESSALONIANS 4:9 “But concerning brotherly love ye need not that I write to you: for ye yourselves are taught by God to love one another.” GOD TEACHES MAN TO LOVE ALWAYS We can teach people all forms of trade but love cannot be taught. God has already given us love and love is within us. It is therefore not necessary to teach it. Do to others, as you would wish them to do to you. God has taught us how to love. The Israelites did not listen to the teachings of God, but to that of people because they had no love, but the Gentiles possess love. We abandon love through rigid adherence to state laws. If we pursue what we see day in and day out and pay heed to all that we hear, we will abandon love. If we take decision about things and persons: from pieces of advice from people, then we have abandoned love. We have equally abandoned love if we pay back evil for evil. If you catch a thief, and call in a policeman to affect an arrest, then love has been abandon. You might say that you want to prove yourself a good citizen, but to what extant? When he is arrested, he might be taken to court and finally jailed. But the Bible says that a true Christian should not take one to court. Our parents teach us to mingle with people, leading us to commit sin. Teachers equally teach us how to commit sins. All worldly teachings lead us to commit sin. Only God teaches us how to love; this love had existed before all the material things of the world. God teaches man the perfect knowledge: the knowledge we acquire of the world on earth and the things therein is imperfect. All human teachings are directed to the flesh and are materialistic. God teaches us love and how we must love; only God advises us correctly, which is why we must learn to take God’s advice. A stroke of the cane is sufficient unto the wise. Let him who has ears, hear. May the Lord bless his Holy Word. Amen! THANK YOU FATHER.
