FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME NEEDED ASAP!! JD left the only home he has known last Thu because we had a foster lined up, who has since fallen through. Now, the poor guy has been sitting unnecessarily in boarding and is still waiting for a foster or forever home. JD was born on 9/23/09. He is a big, handsome 87 lb. purebred chocolate Labrador. He is new to LR as of 7/13/14. His owners, who had him since he was 8 weeks old, relinquished him to LR because they didn’t feel like he was getting adequate attention and exercise with their busy lives. He is described by them as “playful, lots of energy, grew up around kids, likes to be walked”. JD is used to living his life outdoors. His coat is bleached and needs some TLC. With some good quality grain free food, fish oil, and brushing, his coat should be shiny and soft with time. He has a lot of potential with a family that has the time to spend with him. He lived with 3 human brothers, ages 14, 11 and 8 when he joined the family, so he is good with kids. He is also supposedly good with cats. He does pull on lead, but is manageable with a gentle leader/prong collar. Nothing that some training won’t help. JD was neutered on Fri, is up-to-date on all shots, microchipped, up-to-date on flea treatment, negative for Heartworm and also had a negative fecal test. He is currently being treated for an ear infection. JD attended our adoption event on Sat, and this is what his handler had to say about him: “I handled JD at the adoption event today. We picked him up and spoke briefly to the vet regarding some medical issues. JD was neutered yesterday, he has some skin issues and an ear infection. Nothing some meds, good grub, fish oil and TLC cant fix. His fur has been bleached by sun exposure and is patchy or thin in some areas. I brought a prong collar and at first, JD was head and chest to the ground but before we left the parking lot, he understood no pulling was the order of the day. He jumped into the rear of the truck and rode with his head on the center armrest, slobbering as only a Lab can do. He was awesome at the event and got along with everyone. He knows sit and shake and was quickly learning heel. He takes treats pretty gently except for one time when he sort of chomped too quickly. We drove back to the vet and JD was sacked out in the rear seat of the truck. Inside the vets office, JD was very affectionate and gave lots of kisses and rolled on his back for belly rubs. When they escorted him back, he was happy and trotted along with the vet tech. Very sweet guy and should go quick. I cannot believe he lead a sad life of being ignored in a back yard for over four years. Great save team, only great things ahead for this sweet Lab. I forgot to mention he has some huge paws and big block head.” PLEASE HELP JD!
