FOUR MONTHS IN THE MAKING... fly free Release of Red-cockaded Woodpeckers (RCW) on William Goodrich Jones State Forest this morning was a sight to behold for Texas Master Naturalist volunteers and TFS staff present for the release. This is the first time in history RCW were release onto the Jones State Forest. It was a day four months in the making. The birds arrived to the JSF around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday morning and were placed into the new artificial cavities where they remained until about 7:30 a.m. upon which they were release to fly free. Thanks everyone involved for making this happen. Especially to Ken, Shane, Debbie for capture the entire process.
