FOUR TYPES OF DISCIPLES: 1. THE PASSIVE : They feel it is the responsibility of the mentor to pursue them.. They follow, but they can only arrive when it is convnient for them.Passive disciples usually fail in their assignment and become bitter 2. THE PARASITE: They want your influence and knowledge, not your correction. They want the profit from a relationship without the cost of discipleship. They want what the mentor has earlned , not what the mentor has learned. 3. THE PRODUCTIVE: Considers the mentor to be a gift from God for accelerating his own life and ministry. Possess a servant;s heart and pursues the mentor for genuine reasons. The productive disciple truly loves the mentor and wants to experience his heart. The productive disciple produces what he has learned from the mentor over the years. He recognizes the achievements of the mentor and will never discredit them. 4. THE PRODIGAL:: Just like the prodigal son wanted what the father had for his own pleasure so it is with the prodigal They fall into a comparison trap between what the mentor offers them and what someone else has. They will move away from the mentor the moment there is serious correction or whan the mentor suffers unexpected disaster. Just as the prodigal looked for some one to hire him, the prodigal disciples are obviously for hire. When the Prodigal asks the mentor to leave, the mentor should let them go.
