FOX21 RESPONSE to Cosmos Viewers: While conspiracy theories are - TopicsExpress

FOX21 RESPONSE to Cosmos Viewers: While conspiracy theories are fun, we’d like to set the record straight with regard to what happened during the airing of “Cosmos” on FOX21 Sunday night. When FOX Network has a live sporting event on Sundays they send the local affiliates (FOX21) different sets of commercial logs. These logs tell us (FOX21) what times FOX Network will be airing commercials throughout Primetime (Example: 7:11 or 7:17 or 7:35). Why do they send several logs? They send different logs to cover the potential things that can happen in a live event (in this case a NASCAR Race). Those events could be a crash, rain delay, race cancelled etc. Any of those can make the event run long carrying into Primetime programming. On Sunday night FOX Network sent 5 logs. The FOX21 employee working in programming put the wrong log into the commercial computer. When they put the wrong log into the computer the commercial times didnt line up correctly. This means the local FOX21 commercials didn’t match up with the National commercial times. So viewers ended up seeing two sets of commercials and while the FOX National commercials were correct. The local commercials ran at the incorrect time covering up parts of the show. This problem actually started at 7:00pm during the airing of The Simpsons and continued until 9:00pm (the whole Primetime). You can see the show “Cosmos” in its entirety on FOX.COM or several services offer it On Demand (Comcast, Direct TV etc.) We appreciate everyone’s passion for the show and we apologize for the error, but it was simply a human error not a conspiracy theory.
