FPD Facebook viewer identifies theft suspect from surveillance photo: On June 14, 2014 at approximately 5:30 PM, Dollar General Store personnel reported the theft of some merchandise by an unknown white female suspect. FPD and store personnel reviewed video footage and were able to produce pictures of a person of interest. That picture was posted on our Facebook page in hopes that one of our viewers may be able to identify her. The picture was first posted on June 21, 2014 and within a few days; officers received a tip as to who the person may be. Upon further investigation however, officers was able to eliminate that person as a suspect. FPD re-posted the picture on July 12, and like before, within a few days another person called to report that a person matching the description of the suspect was currently walking south on N. Broadway Street. An FPD officer responded to that location, made contact with the woman and identified her as Shannon Bancroft, age 35. Bancroft was subsequently interviewed and confessed to committing the crime. A warrant was obtained for her arrest and she was taken in to custody today and transported to the IRCSO Jail without incident. FPD would like to thank our Facebook viewers for their assistance in this case, especially the viewer who called FPD immediately when they recognized Bancroft walking down the street.
