FQ: Hello Moms and Moms to be! I am a 29 year old FTM. My son is 18 days old and I had him through a scheduled induction. The process was supposed to take about 12 hours after I was administered the pitocin. Well he came 2 hours after the pitocin was given to me. Because my labor and delivery happened so fast I experienced a hematoma. A hematoma is when a blood vessel is damaged and a collection of blood leaks into tissue. It is VERY painful and rare in pregnancies. about 1 in 300 women will experience a hematoma after delivery. Usually women will get surgery immediately because its so painful or the hematoma keeps growing. I was scheduled to get surgery but by the Grace of God, when my doctor came to examine me before surgery the hematoma started to soften and didnt get any larger so he recommended that I let it heal naturally. I agreed because I didnt want surgery. My question is to anyone that may experienced this. How did you heal if you opted not to get the surgery and how long was the process? Did you try anything other than pain meds to help you through the recovery process? It has started to drain but its a slow process. My doctor said it could take about 8wks to heal on its own. Any reasonable and safe suggestions? Thank you! ~4
