FQ: My son (36) and his wife (32) are expecting their first child mid sept. He told his younger brother (hasnt told me or my husband yet), that if we cant come to the hospital to see the baby when its born, then they dont want visitors for 1 month......They live out of state, about 3 1/2 hours away. I dont believe they have told her mother yet either. My husband and I usually book vacation at this exact time for 2 weeks, we go to the shore, so this year we booked in their home state, about 40 minutes south. They dont know this yet, but i am hoping they change their mind about visitors (after all, we are grandparents). My son is taking off 2 weeks to be home with her and I suppose she thinks she can handle it on her own after that. My son doesnt have FMLA where he works so he would basically be using all his vacation. Is it odd that they dont want any help whatsover from the moms, we are both retired, this is my first grandchild and i can stay out there for whatever time they need me for. Her mom lives 5 hours away and would be thrilled to help out too. I am not a pushy type mom, and I dont know what my sons reaction will be when he finds out we are going on vacation near him. I wouldnt expect to see them every day but I know when my kids were born I accepted any and all help I could get.
