**FRAN** ------------------ Rangers Report Chronicling all of the News for Glasgow Rangers Football Club Kenny Miller emerging as a leader for Rangers Posted on August 12, 2014 by Rangers Report Written by – Ross Farquhar In light of the recent criticism that’s rained down on manager Ally McCoist, Kenny Miller has issued a warning to teammates that performances must be better. Over the past two years, McCoist has been devoid of ideas & as a result supporters have been subject to substandard football. Yes, there are fans out there who will argue that Rangers have won both divisions with relative ease; however the club really could have navigated the last two years in a different manner. Let’s be honest? We have Plan A and Plan B. Plan A consists of playing the ball to Lee Wallace or Ian Black, getting it wide with the hope that something happens. Moving on to Plan B, if Plan A fails then guess what? We then get to see the ball lofted back & forth with the hope that the ball eventually ending up in the opposition’s net. However, despite the manager being tactically inept – the players have to stand up & take some of the blame. Having said that, it is refreshing to see one of the senior players come out & say that Saturday’s level of performance was simply not good enough, when you play for a club the size of Rangers. Kenny Miller, now in his third spell with the club, knows exactly what’s expected each & every time he pulls on the famous blue jersey. As a result, he couldn’t hide his frustration at the lack of creativity from his teammates. He said, via The Evening Times, “Kris Boyd is playing – the all-time top SPL goal scorer – and I don’t think he’s had a chance to score a goal which is not good enough. He’s going to be the guy who will probably get the majority of our goals but if it’s a home game & he’s not getting any real chances to score then that is something we have to look at.” The striker didn’t render the situation a lost cause, as he explained, “It’s up to us to work at it with the midfield and find some way to create chances. If we are not going to get that ball into the box for Kris then it’s something that needs to be rectified.” “At stages, I was just trying to get involved. There were times where the ball wasn’t coming up to us so its second nature to go hunting for it. It was frustrating because you want to be creating chances and scoring goals.” Some fans may feel that Kenny Miller has done the wrong thing in coming out & airing the club’s dirty laundry in public, they may argue that if he has a problem with the lack of service then he should take that up with his teammates behind closed doors. But you cannot overlook that Miller is vastly experienced & he wouldn’t have made these comments if he didn’t think that they would have the desired effect. His comments in reaction to the lack of service on Saturday were calculated, & it is now very clear that he has taken a leading role in giving some at Rangers a well needed kick up the backside, as well as reminding them of what’s expected every time they walk onto the pitch as player for Rangers Football Club.
