FRANK IS AT IT AGAIN: Hell be riding 100 miles up the Trek to raise money for 45 Granite Street----read more below! Here I go Thursday - 100 miles Up Hill for the Building Renovations for the Kids at the Community Bicycle Center - still time to support me and help us renovate our new building. Frank Wertheim Frank’s $1000 – 100-mile Bike Ride – Up Hill!!! Fundraising Century Ride for the Community Bicycle Center Dear Family and Friends, As many of you know I have been volunteering for the Community Bicycle Center in Biddeford, Maine the past few years and also serve on their board of directors. The organization does amazing things for kids, many of them who live in poverty, teaching them important life skills and giving them a welcoming place to learn and thrive. I have participated in their Trek Across Maine Team and mentored a child on the 3 day, 180-mile bike across Maine on a Tandem bike. This year I am riding tandem on the 180 mile journey with my young friend I am mentoring – Tommy I’ve helped and watched kids learn to strip down and rebuild and “earn” a bike, and accompanied kids on several fitness and training rides. It’s hard to put into words the amazing work this small organization does for kids. Here is a link to their web page for more info on the organization: The Community Bicycle Center has outgrown its physical location and just bought a new building! In order to reach more kids and be more accessible to downtown Biddeford area kids, the organization is having a capital campaign to renovate 45 Granite St., Biddeford ME. This will allow us to go from a 900 sq. foot building to one with over 4,000 sq. Feet. The programs including a new fabrication chop shop will be so great for the kids to expand their creativity and engineering skills. I am asking family and friends to help me raise $1000 for my 100-mile ride. There will be a lot of big hills on this ride, ending with a killer hill up to the Sunday River ski lodge. To me they will be metaphorical of the struggles the kids go through and overcome everyday. I know I will make it on my ride, and hope to successfully meet my fundraising goal for the capital campaign. Would you please consider joining my team? If you wish to contribute please send a check made out to Community Bicycle Center, and mail it to me at my home address: Frank Wertheim 10 Cranberry Lane Kennebunk, ME 04043 You can also donate online via the Community Bicycle Center Web Page, but if you do so please make a note in the comments so they know it is towards my capital campaign pledge: communitybike.net/ Thanks so much for considering this and for supporting so many of my running/cycling for causes adventures over the years. Much love, Frank
