FRAUD ALERT Loblaw Companies Limited and its banner store, Real Canadian Superstore, are warning the public of a fraudulent scam that targets customers over the phone. Several customers have reported receiving an automated phone call that advises them that they have won a free vacation from Real Canadian Superstore. The automated caller asks them to press one if they agree and two if they disagree. If the customer presses one it takes them to a live caller who asks for their personal information including their credit card information to book the vacation. This promotion is fraudulent and not associated with Loblaw Companies Limited or Real Canadian Superstore. Real Canadian Superstore would never ask customers to provide their personal or credit card information over the phone. Loblaw Companies Limited has notified the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre as well as the authorities and is currently investigating this fraudulent promotion. Customers who have received a phone call and have concerns regarding their personal information are encouraged to call their credit card providers immediately, as well as file a report directly to the RCMP Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501 or email their report to [email protected].
