FRC Fall Classic recap: Team 5012 Gryffingear was the sole Antelope Valley representative at this FRC competition, fielding two robots, Basilisk and Golden Snitch, as teams 5012 and 9012, respectively. This competition was held at Valencia High School in Placentia, CA. This competition was actually two one-day events on the same weekend, so there were two outcomes for the event. The Saturday edition of the competition was met with some scheduling issues, but towards the end of the day ran smoothly. The Golden Snitch(as team 9012) finished qualification matches as #4 alliance captain, selecting former world champion team 330 Beach Bots from Hermosa Beach as first selection, team 9696 Circuit Breakers from La Crescenta(secondary robot to team 696) as second selection, and Gryffingears own secondary robot as team 5012 as backup robot. This alliance fought a close semifinals match, but ultimately lost the best-of-one semifinal with a score of 106-96. The Sunday edition of the event ran a lot smoother in every regard. Team 9012 was met with similar success on day 2, finishing qualifications as #2 alliance captain. 9012s First selection was team 599 RoboDox from Granada Hills, second selection was team 5012, and backup selection was team 687 Nerd Nerd from Carson. This alliance prevailed over the #3 alliance to advance to the finals. The finals were decided in 2 matches, with the #1 alliance of 3476 Code Orange from Irvine, 330 Beach Bots from Hermosa Beach, 9476 Code Orange - B, and 1836 Milken Knights taking home the gold. See FRC teams 399 Eagle Robotics and 5012 Gryffingear compete for the last time, fielding two robots each, at the end of October in San Diego for Battle at the Border!
